Assessment
海角直播 (PCS) strives to develop the whole child–spiritually, socially, emotionally, and academically. We prepare our students to be critical thinkers, collaborative problem solvers, and creative individuals who seek to better their world through service to others. When a student graduates from PCS, they are prepared to succeed, thrive, and lead in our dynamic 21st century world.
K-8 Assessment
海角直播 prides itself on outstanding academics. 聽On the K- 8 level, the focus is on short, regular assessments to make sure that students are growing to their maximum potential. 聽A national standardized test is given each year as determined by the Diocese of LaCrosse.
Religious Assessment
Students in grades 8 and 11 take the diocesan religious assessment each spring. 聽This assessment focuses on knowledge, concepts, practices and attitudes.
Reading/Language Arts
Curriculum Based Monitors (CBM鈥檚) from the University of Oregon are used beginning in kindergarten. 聽These assessments are given monthly in the lower grades, and take approximately two minutes to administer. 聽聽Letter and word recognition, sounds, comprehension, and fluency are checked with this assessment. STAR Testing is also used for reading and math.
Math
Students participate in weekly math fact checks to make sure that they have mastered their math facts and participate in STAR Testing. 聽Additionally Moby Max, a computerized learning program, is used to monitor and promote concept learning throughout the year.
Writing Assessment
In grades 6- 8, a writing assessment is conducted three times a year. 聽This assessment provides teachers and students feedback on strengths and weaknesses in their writing.
9-12 Assessment
Pacelli Catholic High School students take the PLAN, PSAT/NMSQT, ACT Aspire and the ACT. ACT Aspire is a preliminary ACT and the PSAT is a preliminary SAT. The ACT Aspire is a very effective measure of progress from ninth to tenth grade and predictor of ACT scores for the junior and senior years.
ACT Aspire
All Freshmen and Sophomores take the test twice a year. This test consists of English, Math, Reading, and Science.
PSAT/NMSQT
Sophomores and Juniors may take the test if they choose. This test will focus on the knowledge and skills that current research shows are most essential for college and career readiness and success.
ACT
The is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in: English, Math, Reading, and Science. Juniors and Seniors who are thinking about a 4-Year college take this test.
